No matter how much time has passed I will always honor your memory. You were a true hero in every meaning of the word. I am still here and you still serve with me every day in spirit. I new you in person to be a loyal husband, a proud father and a faithfull servant of your country and community. I still go by Smokeys on 14th Street for breakfast every so often and remember how we all would meet there in the mornings. Im making sure that these young officers appreciate the sacrifices that were made during those crazy 90's and understand how important it is to honor the badge they wear, to be vigilant both on and off duty, to look out for each other like family and hug their kids before they leave for work.Times have changed however, Departments prefer robotic like politically correct corporate paper pushing Officers to the true street cops, who were honored for removing thugs from the street and drinking a cold one after work. We both won Officer of the Month together and argued over who deserved that "Officer of the Month" take home car. You thought I deserved it for chasing some wanted suspects in a car and I felt you deserved it for chasing a wanted suspect down a alley while he was firing at you and eventually apprehending him.
Well..."I was right!!"
You had just returned from Desert Storm and were bragging about your new born baby. It was crazy how I told you to be carefull out there after nearly losing my own life in a shooting and then it happened to you. It shouldnt have.
Any coward can be a criminal but it takes the courage of a lion to be a Police Officer. God Bless Bro. Miss ya!
